Hello from East Tennessee

Hello, I'm new here. I have been interested in fuel economy for sometime now and finally decided to join a forum. I drive a 2004 Dodge Dakota 4.7 4x4. Minus clutch fan delete and flowmaster exhaust it is stock. Testing a lower grill block this week so I will see how that goes.

I'm looking for a car to drive to work, its a 80 mile round trip and killing my wallet. Let me now other than the obvious Civic some good fuel mileage cars.

Welcome to EM.

Sounds like you already know about the first tip about buying a good mpg car. If you find a good cheap car you can pay for the car and its insurance fairly quick.

As far as good fuel mileage what is good to you and what years. For example you could get a geo metro and get great mileage, but then your driving a metro some people like the look some dont so its a trade-off

Basically aim for a 4cyl 5speed 2wd and 30mpg min shouldnt be hard to get.

and you need 5 posts to do more than just post normally on here as far as your sig test

How do you like the Escort? I can find them alittle cheaper than imports around here.

i like the escort for all but 2 things
1) no tilt wheel ( This is an option though )
2) no arm rest for right arm
so there both just personal preference i like i having a spot to put my arm. Otherwise there great little cars i picked it up for $850 and have put about $250 into it so far at 190k miles. If you dont exceed 55mph about 2500rpms its very capable of 35mpg

If you want to stick to domestic, start looking for a Cobalt XFE, a special high MPG variant of the car made in its last few years of production. Search the forum here - they're a good highway cruiser, well above average fuel economy.

Somewhat harder to find than a Civic though!

Welcome to the forum.
