Hello from East TN

Hey all my names Steve and I've got a passion for 4th generation (88-91) Honda Civics. Currently I have an 89 4dr and hatchback the 4 door is my high mileage car ~38 mpg avg with an auto tranny no less. The hatchback is a beast that I've gone the wrong way with as it has a JDM 2000 MY Type R engine and tranny in it and only squeaks out 24mpg if I drive it normally (hard to do when it spins the tires so easily;). I also have an 07 Silverado that I would like to improve as well.

I look forward to learning as much as I can and contributing as much as possible, if possible.

Welcome to the site. Any ideas where you'd like to start?

Starting

First and foremost is getting the cars rolling resistance down. I'd like to find some of the smaller (narrower) Civic STD rims that are fitted with the 155/80 13" tires. I think they are 5" rims instead of 5.5". I had an STD with an Si (1.6l) engine and tranny that got 40mpg no matter how I drove.

Next, I imagine that if I convert this car (89 4dr) to a 5 speed with the DX gearing and MPFI fuel injection and get the lean burn ECU from the later Y7 OBD1 engines (CX) I would think that 50+ would be no problem?

Welcome to Ecomodder and happy hunting ( not for the Road-Runner but for higher MPG's of course :D )
