Hello Ecomodders

Hi Ecomodders,

I created an account here and read alot and now I've decided to finally introduce myself. ha.

Drive a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L I6, college student so eco-mods are limited in budget.

No scan gauge yet, but plan to get one soon.

Hi Josh - welcome to the forum. Plenty of Jeep drivers to keep you company.

You're on the right track thinking about instrumentation as a first step. If the ScanGauge is out of your budget, consider making yourself an MPGuino.

Welcome to the site. What kind of mileage do you normally get with the Jeep?

Thanks all,

As to MPG, with no eco mods and just the intake I was getting 17 avg, with up to 19 when mostly highway over a whole tank of gas. So not horrible to start with but I see some Jeeps getting 25 on here and I'm going to try to get part of the way there.

And anyone know if my MPG will go up with a new exhaust by much or at all?
same q to superheat the cc to clean it in the mean time?

Edit: Also my commute to college includes 29.5 miles of highway and interstate so I will try some aeromods to get that up quick.

Hello - a quick introduction

Hi Josh,

Like you I'm a new forumer. Facsinated by all the ideas.

I am interested in this forum and the participants desire to save fuel. I'm a senior trim engineer in the auto industry and am very concerned at the lack of pace of change - especially fuel economy.

My work requires me to drive 40000 miles a year and am forever designing a sleek economic vehicle to get to work. My latest thought is a modern version of the Renault GTA610 with a smaller engine.

Does anyone recall a Ford concept vehicle with the small engine mounted at the rear? Guessing mid-90's? I can't find any record of it on the web. From memory it had a Cd of 0.21, which betters the Renault's 0.3 by a long ways, yet using the same philosophy.

Keep up your mods and experiments.

cheers
Puggo
