Hello from an Insight driver in Colorado!

Just joined up after seeing this site pointed out on InsightCentral. I picked up a 2002 Insight last February and have been enjoying the 70 mpg fillups since! My average over last 5500 miles since I bought it is showing 73.5, seems like it is slightly optimistic compared to conputed numbers, but I can't really say I'm disappointed! :)

My former daily driver was a 1993 Trooper. By driving carefully I managed to get mileage in the low 20's, so the Insight really stands out.

My wife liked those numbers, so in August I picked up a 2000 Insight for her! We're keeping her 4Runner for extra bad WX and extra seats needed trips.

I guess we've jumped in with both feet!

Looks like I've got some reading to do here...

Welcome to Ecomodder! Insights are great vehicles; I hope to join the family of Insight owners sometime myself. :)

Such a radical switch. But anyway, what were the reasons leading you to that move?

I tend to like eclectic cars!

The Trooper was a 1993 RS model. Isuzu imported approximately 1500 of them between 1993-1995. It was a Trooper with only two doors, short wheel base. It was fun, kind of miss it now..

Reasons for change - actually got into a 2010 Insight first. Found a very clean one owner, very well maintained version at a good price. Drove that for a couple of months, enjoyed the increased mileage over the Trooper but I really like shifting for myself! Found Insight Central while searching for maintenance info on the 2010, started reading about the 2000-2006 Insights. THEY came with a manual tranny!

Started keeping my eyes open on Craigslist. One day there it was - a 2002 Insight at a price that I could jump and try it out. So now daughter in college gets the 2010, I've been driving the 2002 and bragging about 70 MPG to my wife. She decided she'd like one too. That was all it took - I found a 2000 Insight for her. Now we have three Insights added to the family in a year!

Yes, sometimes I get carried away! :)
