Hello from Manila, PHL!
Hi folks! Just a quick intro, my name is Raf and I'm a Filipino-American living and working here in Manila. The wife and I just bought a 2014 Mirage G4 sedan with CVT (aka the Attrage) that I'm picking up from the dealer tomorrow.
I've always been interested in hypermiling and various fuel saving techiniques. I haven't driven much here in Manila, as the wife & I commute to work using public transportation, but work circumstances (my wife's an OB-Gyn) forced us into buying a car. Cheers. |
Welcome to ecomodder !
There's already another owner of a MiniMitsu / MitsuMiniMi |
Hello, Raf -
Hope you weren't affected by the typhoon. Horrific news. Congrats / condolences on getting the car. :) Sometime's life's easier without one. The Mirage CVT is an interesting unit - it will reward you with quite good economy if you tread with a light foot - though Manila traffic is horrid, from what I understand. If you have to participate in the daily stop & crawl, you've got a challenge on your hands. More about the specific CVT in your car: Information about the Mirage CVT (Jatco CVT7 JF015E) operation, video, diagrams One good thing: the G4 has a built-in fuel consumption gauge. 2 of them actually: one resets after 4 hours of inactivity, the other is manually resettable. Unfortunately, there's no "instant" gauge, which would be really helpful in helping you tune your driving techniques. Welcome to the forum! |
Manila driving tips? Don't drive. :D
Other than that, she should try scheduling her clinic hours at each hospital (if possible) so that her trips don't coincide with rush hour on main thoroughfares like EDSA. Good idea to buy the CitiAtlas map so you can try out different routes to find the best ones. Not a fun thing to do this close to the Christmas season. |
Welcome to the site. The G4/Attrage is a great car for mileage. I look forward to seeing what you can do with it.

I would imagine that with everything going on in the Philippines right now, your wife, as a medical professional of any sort, is pretty busy with disaster efforts. Wishing you the best and a speedy recovery for your countrymen.
