New from Texas

Glad to be here. I'm not very good at wrenching on cars. I'm better with two wheeled things. I have commuted to work by bicycle. I have also added gas engine kits and electric motor kits to bicycles and commuted on them. I ride my 125cc scooter to work when it's too hot to cycle. I've spent plenty of time on public transportation too.
I'm into reducing the expense and monotony of the daily commute. I'm considering building a velomobile for commuting on windy winter days (and wet days).
I look forward to learning a lot on this forum and helping others in areas that I have some experience. Cheers.

Welcome. Houston's a dense enough city for biking to be feasible, esp. if you're less than ten miles from work. There's a lot of motorcyclists here who I'm certain will share insights with you, and a writeup used to be the front page of the blog about a guy who modded his small scooter and picked up impressive gains in top speed, and huge gains in fuel economy.

I don't know how many of the guys have made velomobiles though.

Thanks for the welcome. I am about 12 miles from work so it works out pretty good. I guess you don't see many velomobiles in coastal TX because it is too hot to use them in the summer. The scooter with the fairing was awesome.
