Hello from Missouri (2002 Civic Ex)

Hello all!

I just joined up to the forum after logging my fuel here for a couple of weeks. I drive an automatic 2002 Honda Civic Ex sedan and have a 120 mile round trip commute five days a week. I use Torque to monitor my car's fuel economy and vitals.

I'm mostly interested in simple engine and aero mods since I rack up mostly highway miles at 65 mph.

Mods accomplished so far
  • Upper Grill Block
  • Fog Light Blocks
  • Warm Air Intake (partially complete)
  • Tire Pressure at Max 44 PSI

On the drawing board
  • Rear Wheel Skirts
  • Lower Grill Block (Winter Driving)
  • Kammback
  • Air Dam
  • Rear Belly Pan

I'm excited to be a part of this community!

Welcome to the forum!

That's quite the commute. I suppose relocating isn't an option? Think of the time & money savings!

And that's a good start on the mods list. How long have you had the car?

Unfortunately moving isn't an option until the summer. I've had the car since 2008 and has 170k miles on it. It's been relatively well maintained over the 100k that I've had it.

My commute is 70 miles each way, for a total of 140 miles a day and 700 (ish) a week.

I hear you on the commute. I also travel right at 120 miles round trip, but im stuck in a little more thirsty vehicle.

Welcome!

Yuck, I wouldn't want to add any more time to my commute. It's really tempting to try and speed the travel up but the extra gas as well as all of the police, sheriff, and highway patrol vehicles along my route keep my foot light.

any pics of your mods?

Not yet. I'll grab a couple of pictures when I have some daylight. They aren't very exciting since they are mostly duct tape and coroplast.

Looks like your fuel log has bottomed out. Worst of cool weather behind you?

I hope so. Though here in Missouri, we just had our 4th spring roll through this winter so it's hard to say. We could have some of the cold weather all of the way through April if we're unlucky.

I'm thinking my slight increase in mileage right now is because the days are getting longer. During the darkest parts of winter, my drive both to and from work was exclusively in the dark when there wasn't any chance of heat.
