Hello! New guy with a Wrx wagon

I've been looking into ways to improve mpg's on my 04 Subaru Wrx wagon. Driving style alone nets me an average of 28mpg but I like to improve on that. Anyways I look forward to learning from everyone!

Well I guess I could elaborate on my car and driving style more.

I use my car for daily commuting and fun. I put an average of 350 miles on it each week. I'm looking for fuel savings for money reasons mainly. I'm looking for a balance of performance and fuel economy. My car is also modified a bit and I have tuning software so I can also make changes in my ecu for enhanced improvements.
Driving style:
I'm very light footed and generally shift around 2,500 rpms. I also keep my tires inflated at 38psi. I've thought of going higher but am worried about uneven tire wear.

About my car:
04 Subaru Wrx wagon
85k miles
5 speed manual
2.0L engine
full 3" turbo back exhaust
catless uppipe
ecu tuning
ported tgv's (portion of intake manifold; very restrictive)

Some things that would help with "performance" would be aerodynamic mods because they help your car go faster and will help it get better MPG.

Would you consider a grill block? Lots of opportunities to improve aero if you didn't mind changing the appearance

Massive weight savings. Carbon fiber anything you can afford. Gut noise insulation. Take out the back seats when you're not using them. Lose the spare; a AAA card is a lot lighter. There are other things you can lighten or lose, but the great thing is that subtracting weight adds performance and economy.

Maybe behind the grill or the bottom portion. I don't want to change the look too much. I'm planning on pulling the roof rails off soon and also getting fog light covers because I assume alot of air get trapped in there.

well im back after a hiatus. not much has changed for the wagon mpg wise except ive added a block heater to help with cold starts. now i feel comfortable only warming it for a brief moment before starting my slow drive to work till its up to operating temps.

im currently getting 25mpg with my drives to work and back.

future plans (as soon as it warms up!):

new skidplate that goes from the bumper back to the trans mount (stock one just covers under the engine leaving a void under the bumper).

new struts and lowering springs. ive got some saggy butt issues on the wagon and i doubt thats helping anything. the suspension i purchased should give a bit of a rake stance.

You're doing better than my friends with WRX's. They both knock down 24 mpg as a best.

in the summer months i was seeing 28mpg's but winters are killing me. ill be driving the focus a days a week now that my wife got a civic.
