Congrats!

First impressions? Have you had a Metro before? Is that your Golf you're used to driving?

Nice ;)

Yes that is my golf(gti2.0) and first impression was whoa this thing is ten times more powerful than i imagined! Its got a bit of a flat spot and sounds like maybe some loud lifters? But then again im not sure of what these motors are supposed to sound like. Also clutch releases at very top doesnt feel like its engaged 100%, wore out clutch? Or is it adjustable? I am going to enjoy it for sure. Also it locked me out of it cant get inside of it for now until i figure something out..

1- Check the tps, there is a thread here (use the search to find many tech threads) that shows how to check and adjust it.
2- Lifters may need to be cleaned. These engines are sensitive to the oil used. You may want to try some 'SeaFoam' in the crank for a day before the next oil change and see if that frees them up.
3- Yes, the clutch is adjustable. Under the hood, behind the radiator you will find an adjustment nut. Back the nut out until you have approximately 1/2 inch of free travel at the pedal. I find it best to use my hand when checking the travel as my foot is way to heavy and unsensitive.
4- If you know any one with a Metro or other Suzuki vehicle, try using their key. Wiggle the h-ll out of it and it may let you in. A coat hangar is hard to use on these with the way they set up the lock mech. A long, flat bar, with a 90* twist in the middle will reach the lock from the outside and let you in. Also, here in lovely, downtown, Virginia Beach, the 'YellowCab' company will send a tech with lockout tools to you for the unbelievably low price of $25.

Have fun.

You can always climb in through the hatchback as well!

pepperedchicken 03-27-2013 12:36 PM

thanks guys! ive already seafoamed it, a full can in the throttle body.. overkill maybe but ive got a few cans here, and i poured maybe half in oil and a little more than half in the tank from another can. and as far as getting inside the door handles are broken and non existent inside the car and the key is stuck in the ignition and ive never had the hatch open. but as soon as i get inside of it il be back to working on it! :turtle:
