Hello from SD MN IA Tri-State Area
Hey Guys,
I'm not a new member here but have recently had a change in employment which has required me to travel about 120 miles per day vs about 10, so my interest in fuel economy has been reinvigorated. I have a mech. engineering background and had worked as a sub for contract delivery using my Chevy astro van when I was in school 10 years ago, but have basically been a lurker here ever since delivery job went away. Currently driving a 2004 Chevy Impala and pushing toward sustainably hitting the EPA highway rating (28mpg) and working through some maintenance checks, cleaning, ect. My mpg trend has been positive. I had been (and still do) use the fuelly app for tracking mileage and maintenance so I was able to get the history from 2+ years loaded to get a baseline charted here. Looking forward to warmer weather / less challenging drives. The weather the last couple months has lead to some challenging driving. |

Been horrible winter here in Vermont too. I am so glad to have it break finally!

It's snowing right now.

I was up in the Midwest for both of the major polar air masses this winter. -15*F in Ohio, for instance.
I gave up trying for any kind of fuel economy. At that temperature, I have to idle the truck all night. Anyhow, welcome and here's to your continued improvement! |
As a native Minnesotan living in Tennessee, I'm a little envious of you guys right now. It might hit 80 degrees this weekend.
This gives me some concerns for what it might do when summer comes. And frankly, I miss snow. |
This winter is soooooooo loooooooooong. Yes, I said is. Snow is knee-deep in my yard, steps and sidewalk are icy, I can see my breath in my house...
