So in my quest to save money and learn about better driving techniques, I've joined up on this wonderful forum! :-)

A bit about myself?
I'm from North Georgia and I drive a 1995 Mustang GT with a few mods done to it, which averages a bit around 14 MPG or so. Probably a 25/75 city/hwy driving, for those of you that are curious. I haven't really dialed in on the numbers, but that's what I've estimated.

But am I going to try and get the best mileage out of this car? No!

That's why I've joined. I'll eventually buy a better car to work with, hopefully breaking 60 on average easily. But until then, I figured I'd stop by and say hey, and maybe learn a little bit about what I can do to achieve my goal. :p

We've got a couple Mustang users who see good numbers from conservative driving, the biggest things are instant feedback (Scangauge or Ultragauge) and driving style. What kind of "better car" are you looking at?
I know several of our members have been putting in a lot of work for the Mitsubishi Mirage forum lately, might take a look!

I'll check that out some time as well. A friend of mine told me about some Hondas in the area that are supposed to be real good on gas, but I'm still looking around to see what's reliable and good.

do you have a v8 or v6?

GT = V8. no V6 gt.

depending on how much hwy driving you do, going up one size on your next tire purchas
e will help lower the rpms at cruise.
ex: 2002 Infiniti Q45 Sport 340hp V8
stock 245/45/18
I run 245 50/18 on factory rims.
Picked up about 7% reduction in rpms.
But I do alot of freeway and It more than paid off.

30 MPG from a Mustang (V6, anyway) is possible by "adjusting the nut behind the steering wheel".

The nut is on there pretty tight. :eek:

But since I've posted I've been researching and such. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Geo Metro XFi and the 1992-'95 Civic VX are some of the better choices for a high MPG car, right? :confused:

Right now I'm looking for a Civic VX, and I may be lucky enough to have one on the road I live! (Well, he has the motor out of the car, so I might could pick it up free or cheap :D)
