New Memeber Jetta TDI

Hi everyone. I never thought of myself as the type that would by into hypermiling but I am actually watching my mileage more now that I have the TDI. My other vehicles are Jeeps that get 17mpg under that very best conditions (unloaded, downhill with a tail wind, slightly over inflated tires, slow lane on the freeway, etc). With the TDI I actually enjoy the challenge of trying to beat the EPA estimates and getting as good an average MPG per tank as I can. I sometimes find that I will have a "throw away" tank because I used my car in a very MPG unfriendly way (teaching someone to drive for example) and will try not to worry about how low that MPG for that tank will be but I still hope to see those big numbers when I calculate the mileage for that tank.

I hope I can get some good tips and advice from everyone here and eventually contribute some as well.

Peter J. Ford.
