Hey everybody

Im new to this forum and glad to be here. Im going to pick up a new car in the near future and like all my previous cars, it will be tinkered with. Im currently driving a 97 dodge ram, so something a bit more frugal is in order. Probably a honda because im familiar with them, but maybe a celica or something of the nature of sporty and economical. My goal is going to be to improve gas milage while making the car more fun to drive quickly when desired. We will see how it goes.

Welcome aboard and good luck on your decision.

i had a new 2004 civic hybrid and was very thrilled.
i wanted an insight hybrid, but wifey said "not enough seats".
i aimed for a prius, but they had a waiting list.
i had to sell my hybrid due to the approach angle to my drive was very steep and i would drag my nose sometimes.

Welcome to EM! I keep waiting for someone to Ecomod a 7th Gen Celica :

It's only 2425 lbs with a 1.8 liter 4-banger, aka the Corolla engine.

The 7tgh gen celica was actually what I was thinking about. Ive driven a few, and they are alot of fun and feel well put together. Im sure with a bit of massaging, it could be practical and sporty. Ive only recently started looking though, so im trying to keep my options open. Looks like another project in the garage. Hooray!

The stock Cd of that car is .32, but I see some pretty low hanging fruit as it were to bring it down to .29 at least. From the looks of it that car would have a nice aerodynamic shape if it weren't for that +4HP rear spoiler and the useless hood scoop. The more I look at it the better prepared it looks to get some nice MPG numbers with a few aero tweaks. Although it's a bit ambitious, if you're so inclined, that engine bay is probably in a position to handle a swap for one of the many smaller and even more efficient toyota engines if you just so happen to find one lying around in a junkyard somewhere.

Welcome and good luck!

the +4 hp wing is if it didnt come with the action package. The action package has a wing to make a 747 jealous. If I can remember back to my mechanic days, it already has a pretty good panel under the engine, however im sure its more for debris than anything else. As for the engine, im not going to get that ambitious (yet). The hood scoop, im not too sure as to how i would fix that while still making it look good. Oh well, this is all in the planning stage anyways. On an unrelated note, this is one of the most friendly forums ive been on.

Yeah, without the spoiler it looks like a very nice slope to the end of the hatch :

Corvette territory :

Here's a nugget from the Celica Wiki :
