Hey Guys, first post.......

The title says it all.

I just wanted to say hello.

A bit of background on me;

I do appliance repair as my primary business. I drive over 100 miles per day. I cannot believe I never got into hypermiling up to this point. But, after 20 years of driving for work, I have begun paying attention to my driving habits. I have already gone up from 18mpg in my Caravan to 23.3mpg and climbing. Not the best in the world. But, for a parts laden work van, that is not bad. (as a sideline, I am buying a Ford C-Max soon). :D

Anyway, I also manufacture high-end electric bike drive systems and am a member of Endless Sphere on-line forum. My E-bikes have an MPGe of over 2,000!

So, hello to all!

Matt

Yes, I have upped the tire pressure. I have been driving for 25 years and (though I am sure I will get flack for this) I have always run my tires at 5 pounds over their sidewall pressure. I know many people will disagree with doing that. However, I have never had a blowout and I have always driven 20,000 to 35,000 miles per year for work. I have seen shops seat beads and it takes a huge amount of pressure. So, an extra five pounds is no big thing. Also, I get an enormouse amount of miles out of a set of tires.

Anyway, I drive so much for work that I figure it is time to get serious about mileage.

Hmm, maybe a CNG conversion on my future C-Max would be cool. ;)

Welcome to the site Matt. A work vehicle is what a work vehicle has to be. Its good to see you've improved your mileage by quite a bit!

It would be great to have someone on the forum with a C-max. You'll probably be the first. It looks like a very nice vehicle, and I'm anxious to see how it performs compared to my 2nd gen Prius which has a very similar EPA rating.

The mileage will depend on how I drive it. :)

I live in northern Il. You can pop by and see it sometime.
