I have decided to try something different from drifting around corners on 3 wheels. :)
Great site, I find trying to archieve a realy low fuel consumption quite entertaining and decidely more relaxing than the above. I drive a Dahatsu Sirion GTVi, it is a sub compact/ micro class hot hatch, 1.3L 80 kw output engine in an 800kg car, absolutely thrashing it results in a touch more than 6 litres per 100 km in town, I am trying to get into the 4 L\100 km range in town (90% of my driving) if I can. I have attached a couple of pictures as I don't think they exist in the USA. |
Looks like a nice small car. Is it a gas or diesel engine? What is it rated to get? Good luck with 4l/100km! You should definitly be able to get that around town, but it won't be the easiest.

I like the look! I agree with Tim, 4L is definitely possible.

Welcome to Ecomodder...
It looks like the average is 5.5L/100Km combined cycle, so you might be able to get it down to 4 in town. What is your typical in-town drive like? If aggressive driving gets you 6, try some of the city driving tips in the 104+ tips link. That will give you an idea of how much you need to do... If you'd like, tell us more about your car -- we don't get cool little cars like that around here :) Best FE, RH77 |

Oops, correction
I just checked some old fuel dockets and my FE was around 7L/100 km :o
Regarding the car, the motor is similar to the Echo but it was detuned to go in the Echo, at the time 1999/2000 it was the most powerful N/A 1.3L ever put into production. Just topped up the tank and pumped the tyres up to 40 psi from 30 psi, I got 5L/100 km not a bad reduction for the first tank. I drive the car for work repairing office electronic equiptment a lot of the trips are short and barely warm the engine up so the grill is getting a serious study. |
Welcome to the site. You should stick your car in the garage so we can get some context at a glance for your posts in other threads.
I think 4L per 100 km is definitely within reach. |
