High Clearance Vehicle Required
Last year I attempted to take my wife to Silver Star mountain in Washington, but I took a wrong turn and we ended up doing a different hike. The way I attempted to get there was the most direct route, and road conditions are favorable.
My wife, not wanting to miss the trail head a second time, had me take an alternate route through Battle Ground that added 10 miles and half an hour to the trip. Multiple sources have this disclaimer: Quote:
Normally this road wouldn't be accessible until May, but we've had a non-existent winter. The only other "car" in the parking lot. I parked next to him just in case he appreciated the humor. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...20Offroad2.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...m/IMG_8556.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...ver%20Star.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...20Star%202.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj9K_hlKR4Q I was able to regen about 4 miles of EV range as the road looses about 2,000 feet in 2 miles. Again, I scraped once coming back down, as the front end dives when brakes are applied. Ironically, the greatest danger was had on the I-5 bridge as I performed an emergency swerve at max steering to avoid a crate in the road. Crate and bridge wall were both narrowly avoided. |
Beautiful scenery!!
Win, with a fun drive involved (crate notwithstanding). |
