Homebrew AC water-cooled seats
Been hot lately, and the truck doesn't have AC.
What to do? Rig up a cooler of ice water to keep me chilled. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxl1-U6QeBg |
cool, the frozen jug is pretty convenient too.

if this thing was available to buy, it would complement your idea greatly and it could make the whole surface of the car seat cooled.
|
That's pretty sweet. It'll be interesting to see how he does the A/C part of it.

...evaporative cooling is simple, cheap and works great...if the humidity is low.
...of course, there's the question of "how much" does it hurt the aerodynamics? |
the humidity isn't typically low in wisconsin summer, and cooling the passenger and not the whole car has some benefits as well.

Highly recommended. See also page 3 . I ran the pump at 0.5-4% duty cycle to stay cool. If you run it at 100% duty, you're going to need some elaborate method of controlling the temperature of water in the tubes. Maybe thermostatically controlled partial recirculation? Nah, just put it on a manually operated toggle switch. |
I just got done rigging up something like this for my babies' car seats. I posted it to instructables.com about a week ago.
