Honda HF 8v engine and trans w/ fresh rebuild

I have for sale a D15B6 8v engine w/ transmission and shift linkage for sale.

Engine has a fresh rebuild and has not been started yet. It has new King main and rod bearings. All new gaskets for engine reassembly, with new water pump and timing belt. Pistons have new rings, and all tolerances are in proper spec.

The block was cleaned and painted as you can see in the pictures. Valve cover has been cleaned and paint has been sanded down for a smooth finish.

Comes with intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and alternator.

Transmission is a L3 cable and gear ratios are as follows:

1st: 3.250
2nd: 1.650
3rd: 1.033
4th: 0.823
5th: 0.694

Super long trans for the best economy. This is the engine/trans setup that can get 55mpg right off the bat. Also comes with shift linkage and shifter.

Located in WI

Pictures soon!

8v motors are cx not hf or vx unless this was a pre 88 motor. Looks nice.

HF are 8 valve.

Did I miss the price? Six you're so far away, I need a trans and have wanted this setup forever, you can never find an HF that's stock.

California98Civic 02-08-2015 09:56 PM

Do you know if it was originally a Cali model or a 49 state model? The cali trans had the 3.250 final drive and the 49 state had the 2.95 final drive.

HF motor/trans

Looking for $800 obo. I don't know which final drive it has in it. It's possible for me to ship freight to whatever location for an additional fee.

Original plans were to turbo it with a lean tune for about 60+ mpg. Plans have changed though and I can;t use the trans for the new build so away she must go.

Update

I will include shipping in the price.

to a VERY unhappy customer!

I should have known better.

BUYER BEWARE.

I would be right around 100% skeptical of somebody jumping on here and selling a rebuilt engine in their first post, especially if it hasn't even been fired up.

I'm pretty surprised somebody bought it, but I am not really surprised by the outcome.

ncnc81 08-20-2015 07:18 PM

yea. i know it, damn shame though. World would be a whole lot better if people actually wanted to help each other out.

I have a pretty decent wagon that i was really looking forward to making more frugal.

Not sure what i can do with my current d15b2 and 4 speed manual... i have access to a good d15b7, which i know is vtec, right?

"rod knock" what's something like that cost to rebuild?

grrrr, i just want it frugal and fixed :)

iveyjh 08-20-2015 07:26 PM

Bad motor?
Dirty Rats

ncnc81 08-20-2015 07:31 PM

i can't even use that hf trans with my weak ass db2, can i?

or... its not worth it i meant...

Baltothewolf 08-20-2015 11:14 PM

Rod knock? Could be a lot of things. Complete engine rebuild required. And by complete i mean everything the oil touches needs to be replaced. Basically throw out everything except pistons and bottom end. Even those might have scarring.

ncnc81 08-21-2015 12:03 AM

can the b6 head go onto my old b2 block?

I mean, its the bottom end that's too loose....and all that's not what makes it HF, its the head, mpfi intake and valves up top and stuff, right?

oh, right and the different camshaft... dambit.
