Doesn’t matter if Honda wants them in the us, because it’s a 2 wheeler and emissions free anyone can walk one over the ocean.

Although cheap the range is likely low (realistically under 25 miles no matter how extreme you hyper mile)

Too bad the thing doesn’t include pedals like an antique moped to “boost” its range

A scooter (stick type, so a bit hard to compare) with a 52v, 30ah battery did 60+ miles at 24->20mph as the battery discharged.

I could see maybe 40-45 miles out of this one if you drove conservatively...

There will be hacks to this to improve the performance and range, but who on this forum besides toecutter is going to commute 20 miles on this thing.

There is a generally level bike path east to west in Reno along the river, and some horrendous up hill ones north to the new warehouse developments, but I don't see people using these paths in any big numbers.

There are some nice looking, and almost unused, bike paths near me. Mostly because the nice-looking parts are covering areas you didn't need a bike path so much, but were cheap to add. And then they just end in extremely dangerous sections of road where you absolutely need a path but it would be expensive to add.

Shockingly underutilized! I've still never managed to commute by bike to my work, even though it's less than 11 miles away (following the roads) because of this.

I finally looked up bike paths near me. Six-thousand-pound ego haulers turn left in front of me all of the time. I don't want to share the road on a bike!

If only I knew where my bike rack is! :)

Speed sadly no, the hub motor self limits to 33mph because of the voltage of the pack, would need to replace battery + controller + battery which on one of these things is more than the moped

On my $40 craigslist bike hubmotor kit, the controller rated at 24 volts actually accepts 36 nominal, and the hardware is actually good to 60 if I wanted to do a boot swap on the control parameter. ( based on the power chips painted id numbers) New unlimited 80 volt controllers are a buck fifty, but decent battery cells are expensive or really big & heavy. The 80 volt one I found also doesn't need hall sensors in the motor so it only can sense output frequency for speed. Buy a 20" hub and lace to a 28 wheel and use pedal crank sensor only.

Sadly, doing all this means I need a trailer, because my bike is full suspension. Nowhere on the frame to hang more than 36v 10ah lipo.
