Honda's "Earth Dreams"
I keep trying to figure out what is my car, while finals approach quickly. I was checking for responses on Cartalk.com when I saw a reference to this: Honda to Update Civic's Four-Cylinder - KickingTires
I searched this site for "Earth Dreams" and only started this thread after not finding the term.

Earth Dreams technology gives the redesigned Accord a CVT automatic and direct-injection 2.4-liter four-cylinder. It's a pairing that returns 27/36/30 mpg (city/highway/combined). That's just 2 mpg combined off the Civic, despite the four-cylinder Accord sedan weighing 439 to 490 pounds heavier than comparable Civic sedan trims. Earth Dreams could raise the Civic's mileage significantly — and it will probably need to, as compact-car shoppers will see ever-improving EPA mileage in coming years.

I got to see one of the Accord Plug In Hybrids first hand last weekend, 48mpg EPA with the 2L earthdreams engine, the owner of it said he got 60mpg on his 120 mile drive, I was impressed, updated EPA figures on the Civic VX give it a 48mpg highway rating.

That sounds awesome!
Yet... isn't plugging in cheating?

Isn't using gasoline cheating???
Plug in range was around 15 miles depending on how you drove it so over the course of a 120 mile trip it's very little.

Well, if I could plug in Bacon and drive it for 15/120 miles, that would increase my mileage by 12.5% for that trip.
How many mods on here improve mileage that much?

I thought Earth Dreams was the name of their new DI 4 cylinder? DI is something new for Honda ... interesting to see how well it works for them.
I'd like to drive one of their CVTs to see if it's as odd as Nissans.
