how bad does your gas mileage drop from an regular cab to an extended cab?

same vehicle, same engine, same everything, just wondering how bad of an drop it would be, for a small truck, s10, ford ranger, type of vehicle

also a side question when did abs come into s10s or ford rangers?

not that much. I have an extended cab V6 and i'm getting better mileage than people with standard or extended cabs. One guy with a crew cab S10 is close to my numbers

i thought ext. cabs had better aero than reg, so maybe its a wash with the extra weight.

I also have an extended cab and am getting much better FE than most with or without an extended cab. I also find that I get better fuel economy with a topper on it than with an open bed (true on all three trucks I've had).

I find regular cab trucks to be nearly useless, I dont even consider them when looking.
I would use the rear seats to hold a few tool boxes and stuff I dont want to leave in the bed and still have room for more than 2 more people.
