How do I clean fridge coil?
Fridge coils are usually easy to vacuum, but I went to clean mine and found that it's not designed to allow access to the coils.
How should I clean these coils? The gap on the left side of the coils is about 3", so going in from the side would be very difficult. The back side of the coils is blocked by the compressor. The only thing I can think to do is to blast it out with compressed air. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...FridgeCoil.jpg |
Or a leaf blower if you have one.

They make special long brushes to clean them. Don't remember just where I got mine - Home Depot, WalMart, or some such, probably - but a search for "refrigerator coil brush" will find it.

Id try a duster, vacuum or a wet rag.
I think a fin comb or straightener wouldnt work. |
Usually in the spring I'll open all the windows and doors, bring my compressed air hose in from the garage, and blast all kinds of stuff clean, mainly the fridge. I'll use the shop vac on it as well.

Blast it with compressed air and have the shop vac near by.

.
Yes. Blast it... http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps38ed5764.jpg and have the shop vac near by and maybe a couple of strong backs if things don't go right... :D Or. You could empty the fridge. Then have someone help tilt and hold it at a angle while you clean the coil from the bottom easily with the tools you already have. ;) Pro tip... When picking a helper, don't pick anyone you owe money too or is especially fond of Road Runner cartoons... http://i536.photobucket.com/albums/f...ps3cf7ffd8.jpg :D > |

I have those brushes, they suck.
When cleaning out the fridge coils they don't make too big of a mess. Cleaning out the lint on a fire hazard clothes dryer with compressed air, only do it out side. |
