How do I properly fix this?
https://i.imgur.com/cYKL6GX.jpg
This is the door that leads into the laundry room and garage. Do I replace the door and forget about ventilation? Do I clean up the edges, cut 2x4s, and glue them around the opening, and then screw new grills into that? Thanks for any assistance you may provide! |
Looks perfect for a dog door :-)

I don't see the problem.
|
None of the cuts are straight and the material around the opening and holes wore out. The vent cover does not stay put, so I need to fill in the material and just use a bolt and nuts like I did with the top vent.
Somehow the top vent does not get kicked like the bottom one does. |
Duct tape!

Get a bigger cover, add 2x4 where needed for screw anchor points.
Don't ever screw into dry wall only and expect it to hold. Oh and AZ is going to get messed up by that typhoon. |
Get a bigger vent grill and cut out a larger hole in the door to fit it.

Looks like an A/C or evaporative coller "pass-thru" return-air ducting grill.
If you want 'continued' (A/C or evap) cooling, "yes," you need to fix it back to proper installation. |
