How many miles do you drive a month
Curious to amount of miles driven a month by members here.
|
Last month I drove about 240 miles, the month before 0, and this month will be 180. I'm flying 2100 on Saturday, though :(
I don't drive enough to actually justify trying any modding myself yet. However, changing my driving techniques was easy, free, and wicked effective. I almost hit 40 mpg on my last tank in the automatic '92 corolla without any mods! I dread the day where my months will be so routine I could easily answer this question :P |

Anyway, I drive prolly over 1k every month. It's almost exclusively for work, I bike everywhere else. |
Probably around 1300 to 1500 in my S10 mostly commuting and about 3000-4000 in my work truck(I'm hourly courier so I don't have to fork over $4+/gal for the diesel thank goodness).:eek:

^Sounds like a good opportunity to save fuel.
About 350 a month for me, I think. |
1800+ strictly to and from work. Though I'll get to cut 400 miles off of that should they let us telecommute one extra day a week.
|
At least over 1000.
I'm going to probably get close to 2000 or 2500 once summer hits. All my friends live at least 35 miles away. Not to mention girlfriend who also lives 35 miles away. Ps. Might have found a 98 honda civic. I'm hoping it's a hx in decent shape. 1000 dollars from reliable family friend. |

1900+ in the last year. Big reason why I've strived to become a hypermiler, :( . CarloSW2 |
I drive 98 miles round trip each day to work (live in southern Idaho and work in northern Nevada). So, if you include in my grocery shopping and misc. errands, I average around 2100 miles a month.
|
3600-4000 each month just for work. Weekends I might do anywhere from 200 to 800 additional miles each month.
|
Hehe .. I think you need to expand your pole a little ... 2500 miles a month here ... Work commute only, when out with the family we use the 4-runner.

1300-1400
I live 35 miles from work, that's why. |
close to 2000mi a month, sometimes more
|
1000 minimum, usually 3-4 fillups at around 380 miles each. Hopefully It'll be down to 600 when my job starts and I get to take the bus halfway to work (for free too).
|
I've been retired for about 14 months, so I've cut back from my 60 miles a week.
Since last May, I think it's under 1000 miles. ( I did more on my Bicycle). I've been thinking of driving around northern New England this summer, since theres bound to be a lot less traffic.. |
About 200 a month on the ebike and 300 in the car. I only live 5 miles from work and 1 mile from the supermarket.

I've ridden my bicycle about 280 miles since finishing school almost exactly one month ago. 220 miles of that is specifically commuting to work everyday.
280 miles on my bike: $38 total (13.5 cents/mile) That same 280 miles if I would've been driving the Tempo: $50 for insurance, $50 for maintenance/repairs/parking, and $47 in fuel (assuming 30-mpg) = $147 total (52.5 cents/mile) :p |
Ahhg! I voted 301-500 a month.
should have been 1200 miles a month. How do I un vote? john |

My commute to/from work is 330mi weekly. Now that Summer is upon us, I can count on an additional 100mi per weekend.
|
2100 to 2300 miles per month.
Justifies a lot of modding. |
60 miles a day every day... I rarely see a day that i don't put on 60 miles.. part of rural life i guess.. if its not for work its for shopping or seeing the family or some other task that cant be avoided..
|
Last month we (me and the wife) put roughly 3700 miles on the Matrix and about 500 miles on the Paseo. This is why I carpool as much as possible.
If I didn't carpool the Paseo would have at least 1500 miles per month. So, I'm saving 1000 miles a month at 50 mpg... is 20 gallons of gas or roughly $80. |
Under 300/mo.
Work is 3.2 miles away from home. I am quite fortunate. |
I'm around 1000 a month. Used to be 2000 before I moved in February. Once the weather starts cooperating and I find a convenient place to put my bikes I can cut out some more local driving.
|
The average is 36K miles/year for both work and personal.
|
I average in a normal month about 1600miles. I do do a lot of driving for work though:mad: so I average 28K Per/Year.
|
commuting
I do between 1200 to 1300 miles a month communting to work.
|
2000+ miles...2009 Corolla LE. 3rd full tank, getting around 44 mpg...going by the hypermilers bible...i'm sure it will only improve..Haven't thought about ecomodding it yet..but soon.
|
1000 a month just to work and back. During school months, I go about 1400 additional a month downstate and back for my daughter. Summertime is about 450-700 additional compared to 1400.
|
Too much driving at the moment. Have to do a 500 mile round trip to the Bay Area every couple of weeks, so that adds 1000 miles each month. That should change soon, with luck, which should get me down to 500/month or so.
|
2700 per month, commuting to and from work alone.
It looks so... I don't know, ridiculous when I see it in black and white, so from now on I am going to not look :-) |
I average around 900 a month lately. It depends. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Over the past 7 years or so, through four different vehicles, I think I average around 10k a year. I went through a spot a few years back where I was commuting 70 miles each way for about three months, then about 50 miles each way for 6 months. Before my girlfriend moved in with me two years ago, she lived 100 miles away. We go to Buffalo (50 miles from here or so) about twice a month, and probably go out to her family about every other month on average. I do most of the driving, because her Intrepid has no AC, only gets 28mpg on the highway, and demands synthetic oil (sludge issue on the 2.7L), so the less we drive it, the better.
|
One month just back and forth to work 2800 to 3000 miles, Weekends for one month 400to 2000 miles. 3200 on the low end and 5000 on the high end.
|
My first year owning the car May2007 -> May2008 was 25000 miles so it worked out to around 2k a month.
