How much money am I saving?

I mainly have been spending money on just one car (I haven't actually driven the Prius since I got it and haven't put hardly any money into it). Yet, looking at my numbers, it looks like I spend about 17.1% of my income on that car. Payments, insurance, fuel, maintenance and repairs.

Insurance has been a big part of that, about 1/3 of my car expenses. I did just finally find an insurance company that is half of what I was paying. Hopefully it's not a scam.

I was posting a payment for my car insurance payment and I noticed that on the line for payment enclosed they helpfully provide six boxes to the left of the decimal; IOW they are prepared to accept payments in the range of $100,000-999,999.

I realize I used to pay more for the car maintenance (like when I rebuilt the VW engine, redid a bunch of stuff on the Astro van) and a lot of that was time too, not just money. But the car I own has a $180 per month car payment, and $150 per month (now $70 per month) insurance payment. Fuel, even at $5 per gallon is usually less than $50 per month...

So I'm trying to see what I can do to save money, yet be able to own what kind of vehicle I need. Lower insurance and lower car payments would seem to be priority right now. But it does look like the pandemic is waning so I'll probably be driving more, so we'll see if I go back to 30,000 miles per year again or not.
