Howdy
Hi there I've been checking out ecomodder.com for awhile finally decided to sign up.
I dispatch for my families smallish flatdeck trucking company. We run a variety of engine types and in the past have valued style over performance (fuel efficiency moreover). I look at our fleet and see so many things that should be changed on the trucks aerodynamically as well as possible areas that could be changed to grab some free hp. Getting away from the previous generations need for long nose kenworths and the other more classic styled trucks is no easy task but they're coming around to it. I look forward to sharing ideas and hopefully put up some estimated #s of fuel savings from different changes I hope to be able to make on our trucks soon. |
Welcome to the group. Are these local or long haul trucks?

Long Haul trucks so they're spending most of there time on the highway and it's the northwest so more mountainous driving.

Welcome to EM! I'm looking for a NASA document that specifically tested truck aerodynamic modifications for fuel efficiency, but I can't find it. This is useful : Reducing Aerodynamic Drag and Fuel Consumption http://gcep.stanford.edu/pdfs/ChEHeX...0_11_trans.pdf This is NASA, but not what I was trying to find : Aerodynamic Design of Heavy Vehicles https://e-reports-ext.llnl.gov/pdf/306864.pdf CarloSW2 |

Welcome! I happen to be a truck tech and can honestly say the aeromoding a fleet of trucks will pay off in a big way.

Welcome to ecomodder! Been following your other thread, good stuff, :)
