Hi - New with BMW 318i modder

Hi,

I just joined and wanted to say hello. I have a 1984 BMW 318i that used to get 30 mpg on its own. I'm up to 35 by simply dropping weight. I use the car only for myself since I have a 120 mile commute each day. I took out the entire interior except for my seat. I am enjoying my new found modding hobby and look forward to learning from all of you.

is it an e30?

if so, do you have the m10 engine?

I see you ahve injection, so you're onto a good start already.

It may be worth converting to a later management system so you can benefit from the better fuelling maps..

post up a pic of your car- I've got 2 e30s at the moment, and possibly a third on the way

I suppose it's an e30? This is my first BMW so I am barely have enough knowledge to keep it running so far lol. How would I know if it's an M10 engine? I don't have a clue how to map an ecu, let alone one from OBD I era.

It should look like this if its an e30...

the m10 engine is the 4cyl engine that was fitted up until 1988- if you put up a pic of your bay, i'll be able to tell you exactly what you have!

ecu upgrading is fairly simple, as is an engine swap! they're easy cars to work on!
