Been lurking for a while, and a member of some other forums.

58 years old, retired mechanic and body repair man from 1969 to 1999. Small repair shop owner.

I drive a 2001 Toyota Echo and a 2002 Honda Insight CVT.
53 MPG average in the Echo (last 7 tanks)
65 MPG in the Insight (since 12-08)

Been working on a couple of things for the last 10 years. One is a variable displacement, variable compression, non reciprocating rotary engine, that can be compression ignition and multi fuel capable.

The second is an in wheel rotary variable displacement Infinitely Variable transmission for hydraulic hybrid vehicles. Reverse, regeneration and infinite ratios are all combined in a single external adjustment.

Totally compatible with any current ABS or traction Control systems.

I will post the patent number soon. The patent has passed the test of novelty with initial approval of 5 of the 6 claims. Some technical errors by the attorney in the application will be corrected before the actual Patent document is issued.

Very interesting that you have worked on the variable displacement and compression.
I once was working on that too when I was developping in Philips laboraties on Stirling engines. I did also get a patent on the choosen solution. See attached number.
US Patent 4454779 - Drive for a variable-stroke swash plate mechanism.
My challenge on the ecomodder is now to make a Burgman Suzuki scooter fuel efficient. Next step is to reduce engine size by using a smaller bore size. My thread is under motorcycles.

Hope the patent process goes well and you make a truckload of money for advancing the (currently pretty pathetic) commercial technology to get better mpgs for everybody.

Sounds good. I used to live (long time ago) on the road to Chicks Beach off of Shore Drive that runs parallel to Northampton just before it becomes the Bay Bridge Tunnel. It's named after my grandfather who was a state trooper during Prohibition.

Don't count on me for to much Insight insight LOL, I faded out of the tech scene in the lat 90s. Most of what I worked on was older stuff, in particular the Nissan Z cars from 70-86. I can tell you a lot about a 37 Ford, hehe.

Another neat thing about the engine design is it transforms itself into a flywheel for energy storage. Also has no connecting rods. As the compression increases the timing advances. With a CVT you can P&G the engine while maintaining a constant vehicle speed, alternating from IC to flywheel power application. Engine never stops spinning when it switches from IC to flywheel, so no other storage is necessary.

Similar to the old toy flywheel cars some of us older members played with when we were kids, and the only computers were in the Post Office.

No valves potential compression ratios as high as 50 to 1.
