Hydrolic jack broke, my car is stuck in the air! HELP!

Ok so I jack my car up and put it on those little jack stands that my hydraulic jack came with. When i come to jack the car back down the jack just wont go all the way up.

When I pump the handle down the jack arm goes up and when i lift the arm back up the jack arm goes down again.... so instead of constantly going upwards it goes up and down and does nothing now.

What do i do?

knock the car over onto bricks/wood planks?

if the jack got it up there, try overfilling the cylinder with anything oil. it must have bled itself if no leaks to not work right again.

didn't even think of that!!! ima go try that, i hope it can raise the car as high as the other jack i used, the other jack is hydrolic and it put it up pretty high!

just stack blocks of wood or something under the jack if it cant go high enough

I'm glad to hear you used the jackstands, and avoided becoming this guy.

Worst case: you have to go get your jack warrantied before you can drive, if the little scissors jack + blocks won't do it.

You need this guy's services:

Does the jack have a separate release valve? If it does, make sure it's tightened all the way...

Or, just put a block on top of the jack, to give you the extra clearance. If you ever need to jack the car up higher than the jack allows, then the blocks work for that as well, just make sure you use the jack stands.

Don't fool around with any of that namby-pamby troublesome hi-tech junk in the future. Do it right.
