HyperMiling makes commuting fun:)

i've just moved house, leading to a role reversal when it comes to daily commutes..

Lucky old me now has the 25 miles each way of rush hour motorway traffic-45mins to an hr is not uncommon!

ordinarily, i'd be livid and tearing my hair out with the lack of progress and idiot drivers, but there's been a change!

now 30mph nose to tail isnt an inconvenience-its an excuse for 35-25mph p&g:)

The whole motorway moving at 40mph aint an issue- i get pleasure watching the 'distance to empty' go UP on the dash!

there's even a section on the return leg that allows for circa 3 miles of glide from just 2 pulses..

Hypermiling also stops me being as frustrated with other drivers-folk cutting in is an excuse for engine braking and some dfco miles.

I just wish some more folks would have the savvy to figure out that '60 screech 30 whoosh 70 skiiiid 20' is not a relaxing or efficient driving style!

i've only done 2 days of this so far, so dont know if it'll last..the m8 can be a soul destroyer!

a final positive note is that as of thursday i start a carshare with a colleague- here's to saved pennies and a bumper carbon reduction..

Wonder if i can claim a tax break for that:)..

I assume you're driving the Clio for this.

Pick up your favorite authors as audiobooks. Helps pass the time.

DITO!

Or find a good podcast or two.

I find that calming music helps adjust the nut behind the wheel for better MPG :)

no- its the saab:)

Its much more suited to the job..plus the burd likes her clio too much!

its a sentimental attachment, and i'm not daft enough to come between her and it!

she lets me drive it if i'm fixing it or servicing it.

Rest assured the 6cd autochanger is full and in constant use!
dont think that favourite books would work-

murder mysteries do not a relaxed drive make:)
