I am a believer!!

Well, I have to say that adding an MPGuino as FE instrumentation has made a VERY noticeable difference in my overall FE!

I added a few aero mods back in July, pre-'guino. Grill block, one wheel cover, one skirt. The FE of the two tanks (~1000 miles) after the mods were nearly the same as the two tanks before the mods (50.5mpg after vs 50.9mpg before). Adding the 'guino, my average has jumped to 54.9mpg over the last 4 tanks (about 1,900 miles)!! And that even includes half a tank with most of the aero mods removed (only had one rear wheel skirt).

In summary:
DescriptionDate Range'guinoaero modsMilesGalsMPG
Last 4 tanksMid-Aug to Mid-Sep '10YesYes*1,918.734.9354.9
Pre-'guino 4 tanksMid-June to Beg-Aug '10NoFor last 2 tanks1,818.535.8550.7
Prev Best 4 consecutive tanksMid-Aug to Beg-Oct '09NoNo1,904.336.1652.7
*Had grill block, one wheel cover, and one rear skirt for all but half of one tank

To me, it's clear that the immediate feedback available via the 'guino display is significantly more effective than the (few) aero mods I did, based on the tanks before/after the aero mods, vs the tanks before/after the 'guino install.

The 'guino is definitely invaluable for taking the best advantage of any other mods (aero and otherwise). My sincere thanks to those that have made this device possible!!

I would second that. The instant feedback is great. my data is far less conclusive, but the mpg from the tanks post guino install are far more consistent. With instant and trip mpg one can go for a target MPG.

Very nice results!

Oh, I realize I should have mentioned... the 2009 "best 4 tanks" as well as the "pre-'guino tanks" were all done using my surface commute route, which generally allowed me to get better FE than commuting by freeway. Since getting the 'guino, I determined that while I get better FE taking the surface route, I still use less fuel overall taking the freeway route since the distance is a bit shorter by freeway.

So while it's not quite an apples - to - apples comparison (it is "sort of" since they're all sets of commuting tanks, just not identical routes), the fact that I'm taking a less FE-friendly route further highlights how much of an impact the 'guino had in improving my FE.
