I could repost all the info here, but I'll leave it where it's at on:

What is that thing?! And what evil plans do you have for it?

At first I thought it was a Segway, but then I guessed it may be part of an e-wheelchair.

I'm also interested in what it will be turned into.

Correct! Attached pic of what it came from. Whole thing came out as a single unit, so I just took it that way. Motor and stuff will be removed to make EV go-kart. Then we figure out how 3 broke college guys and one broke dad can come up with the money to buy parts for one of Paul's controllers and go for a REAL car.

Controller that was in it! Curtis 1208-2455. It's 24V (from what I can find it'll take 12-36 volts), 55A continuous, 75A peak (30 seconds).

It's got 8x ST P60NE06-16 in it:

Soo...how good did I do to score it for free?:D

It would sure be interesting how to get some speed out of wheelchair mechanicals. (mag wheels, flame stickers, and skateboard wheels on wheelie bars just will not speed mine up........ )

Well, I've got a permanent magnet motor that's rated for 2 horsepower. Not sure how we'll end up gearing it.

The transaxle and motor from the wheelchair are pretty interesting! I haven't split open the transaxle, but I did take the motor off of it - which may have been a mistake. They connect the motor to the transaxle via a planetary set! This also happened to be full of grease (thus the reason it may have been a mistake). Part of it is plastic, and part of it metal; I don't think it'll take a LOT of abuse. I have some old bicycle gears that aren't on a bike at the moment; I was figuring to maybe use one of them if I can find a good ratio.

We're getting together to look at everything in more detail tonight. Anyone want to come join us? :)

MPaulHolmes 01-07-2011 01:20 PM

are you 10 miles or less from Olympia, WA? haha

Nevyn 01-07-2011 01:40 PM

Wouldn't that be grand! We could Skype you in, perhaps?
