I had know idea it was possible:)
So, since the heat has begun to roll in I saw an expected increase in MPG. However, after hypermilling techniques alone (well.. and tires inflated higher than norm.), my mileage jump was unbelievable! I will share the last three fill ups---
First: Weather conditions were still a bit chilly... after driving 282.6 Mi. I achieved a usual 36.9 MPG. Second: This is the real shocker:) With hypermilling tips alone after 117.8 Mi. my shock was due to 46.5 MPG!! Now I don't know about you people but I am pretty freaking amazed! Third: After the second fill up I took a trip from Blackfoot, ID to Brigham City, UT with a friend to pick up a vehicle with a friend. I had the cruise set the entire time to about 67 MPH (2 3/4 RPMs) even on the hills and whatnot. On the way back however I was troubled by time so I had to increase the speed to about 74 or so (3K RPMs). When I got back into town and after 272.7 Mi. at nothing close to a constant gas rate (seems how there were many hills and I was over my desired RPMs) I achieved 42.911 MPG. Overall I realized how great of a gas getter my car really is! Made me wonder why I am even getting rid of it.... Then the blue CRX popped in my mind;) Edit: sorry! Forgot to mention that this is on my 1994 Honda Civic EX |
amazing, isn't it?

Great job! : )
It's pretty obvious that your vehicle gets better mileage with the warmer weather. Have you thought of making a warm air intake for the cooler months? You'd probably see similar results. I have no idea how hard that would be to do with a 94 Honda Civic, but it was really easy in my 2000 RAV4. : ) |
