I've got a tree that needs to come down, a fence that needs to go up, exterior painting, wife wants new countertops, and the roof has no more than a couple years left in it.

Honestly, if it weren't for the commute, I would consider it since even once I'm hired, I probably won't be able to start for a while.
There are only 5 "SLP CF" postings on Indeed and if I apply to anything else, they might be like my first 19 applications where they rejected me immediately.
I need to take care of Mom's house, though.
She doesn't pay me or offer cold pizza or whatever, though.

You hit "submit" on your application and you get an automated rejection letter? That is refreshingly direct vs the last time I was job hunting when you would hit "submit" and then never hear another thing from the company.

That said, it is concerning that you are 0 for 19 - not even making it to the interview stage. Do you have any recent job history on your resume? I found out the hard way that a lot of companies automatically reject anyone with more than a 6 month employment gap - AI sends it straight to the reject pile. I didn't think it was true until I hit that 6 month mark and not only stopped getting headhunter calls but stopped getting any call backs from applications.

The last job I had was as a thrift store clerk (NextStep Recycling). The way I got there was by volunteering to dismantle donations. I don't recall if there were intermediate steps, but when I was a clerk my task as I saw it was to make the DEI manager look good. When she laid me off I was working full time, collecting Social Security and banking $1K/month. She lasted two weeks after.

Since then my only additional income is from depleting assets. Last to go was 8 ounces of Silver. Does anyone need a VW Beetle five-speed transaxle?

In my previous job, my only motivation was to outlast the wacko manager I worked under. Figured it would only last 2 weeks, and ended up being like half a decade. He got busted signing for payments to contractors that didn't exist IRL. Going from owning a company that contracted with the silicon wafer manufacturing fab, to being manager within the fab seemed suspicious to me. Did the vice-president get a cut of that corruption considering he was the only one that thought it was a good idea to hire Mohammad? His name was Ben Bagherpour, which has a Persian origin.

My employer is telling everyone (except me) they fired me

I went to do notes last week and yet again, there was some new requirement, and when I couldn't make sense of it, I called the office, someone e-mailed me instructions, and I responded thanking her and telling her where I had been confused.

Bizarrely, you need to go to some website, and create an account, but then navigate to another part with a similar menu.
That explains why nothing worked, but how were we supposed to know to navigate like that?
I always have difficulty logging into my work e-mail and then nothing actually looks important.

The lady who helped me CCed two women from the therapy side I didn't know, but the agency has a great deal of changeover.
I completed everything and am now waiting for bureaucrats to process it.

I connected to Zoom yesterday and the client who has been late once in almost 5 years didn't connect within 10 minutes.
I messaged the mom asking if everything was okay, and she told me the office said they were replacing me because I was fired.
With difficulty, I logged back into my work e-mail, and there wasn't anything since Zoom informed me the mom connected last week.
I found a text saying they were removing my clients due to expired certifications.

One certification and I'm waiting for it to come back.
Nothing about losing my job.

The mom told me she told them this morning she wanted to keep me and the office said they're replacing me regardless.
They told me and numerous other families they didn't have therapists available during the day, afternoon, or evening, so it's possible they simply won't replace me.
From what I have seen, when the office replaces me, the replacements don't last long, while I have seen these clients since August of 2020.

I had reached out to a couple of other agencies for my brother and they also claimed they didn't have therapists available during the day, afternoon, or evening, which was bizarre.
I asked if something had changed in a speech group and several SLPAs responded, "In what town do you live? I have an opening!"

Our support coordinator didn't seem very good.
He always claimed he had vendor calls out for speech, a day program, etc., but he never told us he found anything, and he often missed deadlines and canceled appointments.
We just got a new support coordinator and Mom and I hoped she would do a better job.
Maybe, but the old guy was promoted.

I mentioned the old guy had authorized me to provide speech for my brother and she said that it was fine.
Some lady reached out asking if I was still interested in an SLPA home health job.
Apparently, she wrote me in September, and I just responded that I had a couple of interviews lined up, so I would see how those went first.
As far as I know, they were never filled, although the first one told me they were pursuing other candidates.
I have had a few interviews and that is what they always say.
Mayo Clinic, Phoenix Children's Hospital, and the VA posted the same openings every day for at least 3 months.
They are still posting now, but I don't know if they have posted them daily for 7+ months or these are different, but similar, positions.

Indeed only shows applications from the past 6 months and 8 of them say "Not selected by employer."
Four say "Job closed or expired on Indeed."
I told one clinic and Indeed that I was no longer interested in one position because it was a behavior clinic.
After completing the first interview, an applicant would need to pass a cognitive assessment and then a second 60-90-minute interview.
The first year included intensive behavior training, especially the first month.
They are rated 3/5 and have high turnover.

I told the lady that three agencies told me they didn't have therapists available during the day, afternoon, or evening, but the support coordinator authorized me to work with my brother. She responded they only accept members aged 3-19 who do not have Medicare.
I reached out again to the owner of the other agency for which I worked before grad school, she asked for the support coordinator's information, and then responded that the support coordinator authorized me to provide speech therapy to my brother, but not for compensation.

So, she needed to say "Your family can do what you want in your free time, but you can't put him in your caseload, screw you."

I called the old support coordinator and asked him to call me back, but he rarely responded before.
I doubt that has changed.

Most postings I see are irrelevant, part-time, for positions for which I already applied, or for organizations which interviewed me for rotations and may have agreed to allow me to work for free, but when I asked what I needed to do to get started, they said they couldn't work with me.

One of the SLPs at my last assignment graduated in our program's first class and said she didn't receive her temporary license for 3 months.
I don't see good jobs and I may not be able to start for 90 days.
I'm checking Indeed, Monster, ZipRecruiter, and more.
I searched for "SLP" and my ZIP and have gone through the first three pages of results.
When I find halfway-decent postings, they don't exist on their website.
I've applied to positions like that just in case and never heard back.
When I reached out, they said they didn't have an opening.

Sorry for not just updating I passed my giant evil test. Once I have my official score—assuming I still pass—I apply for my license!

I was hired a week ago, but I still haven't applied for my license because I'm still waiting for an official copy of my transcripts.
When I ordered them, I originally tried to retrieve them in-person, but that would require a 3-hour flight, a 3-hour drive, and then another 3-hour drive and 3-hour flight.

Who knows when it will arrive?!
The State of Arizona says they should approve my license within 120 days of I don't make any errors!
