Idententifying old Kubota engine...
A friend donated an old kubota tractor engine to my efforts at making a wood-powered generator. The problem is that I don't really know anything about the engine. I can see that it is a 2-cylinder, but the only other seemingly related info that I can tell is that it says .425L on the side (ie, 425 cc... if that L refers to volume). It's beside the injector pump. Near that, I see (encircled K) B3, and below that YB 1.
How on earth do I go about getting more information about it? I found some kubota engine ID pdf's, but they are for newer models... this one is probably '80's or before. |
a lot of the older engines you have to get every ID number off the engine and injection pump and call kubota, though if you could find out what it is out of that would be a lot easier.

Could probably find out by googling that ID number, you lucky dog...

I guess I'll have to call kubota on mon... I couldn't find a US contact #, though. Should I just call a dealer?
I've been trying to google the numbers off of it in different combinations, but with no luck. Other than the info above, on the injector pump it says "2010 (space) .351X002" (where X is a number that I can't read... I think it is a double-stamped "0"). I can't find anything else at all. What really sucks is that "2010" might have been a perfectly arbitrary number 20-30 years ago.. but it makes searching impossible now! lol And yeah, I'm really lucky. He just popped in this morning out of the blue like "hey, got somethin' for ya!" :D |
hell I wish a tiny diesel would show up at my house.
