Free from the clutches of the oil companies!

I'm moving from Raleigh to Chapel Hill. No more commuting, no more driving. Everything I need is within 1 -2 miles from my apartment and everything is within walk/bike distance. Also I have great public transit access (sorely lacking in Raleigh).

Thank God I'm free at last!!

What?!?!?! Aren't you going to miss all that pulse and glide, and tracking your gas receipts, etc. etc??!?!?!?!?

Congratulations! Being free from the oil companies should be one of everyones goal in life.

It is a great feeling not to be dependent on a car. Choosing your work and home so that they are close together is a very important choice to make to improve your life.

Weeeellll, kind of. Except anything delivered to that 1-2 mile radius will come by truck, and assuming you don't use any medicines or detergents, food you buy uses no fertiliser, clothes using no colours etc.

Non of us are oil-free I'm afraid.

Another thing I like about the area I'm moving to is that they have a great selection of locally grown produce, and NO drive thrus (banned due to pollution), and NO big box chain stores, and has below a 6% unemployment.
