iMiEV Range Boost

Anyone ever consider adding an aux battery to a iMiEV to boost the range? I really like the car, and the price is pretty good, but the range is really marginal for my use. I wonder if 88 20Ah batteries with their own BMS could be added in a box behind the rear seat, hooked to the controller inputs below. The charger can only output 16 amps, so it would just take twice as long to charge (and discharge), right?
Is this feasible, or am I missing something obvious? Oh yeah - I guess a contractor to disconnect them would be a good idea.

Somewhat related:

i(MIev) goes 219.5 km, 136 mi., on a single charge.
The fly in the ointment being it was at 50 kph, 31 mph.

A nice kamm back or better yet a boat tail could easily increase range by 20%.

On the MyiMiev.com forum they are sketching up a boat tail concept, similar to the one posted here on the European Audi A2 that could hold extra cargo as well.

JRay3 -- your sketch has the top of the boattail way too steep. Look for the Ideal Template for the best slope.

Guilty as charged! Way steeper than 12 degrees, just wanted it to end up at the beltline without being as long as the car itself. i and I would happily settle on a duckbill if it'd help, but have a lot of projects lined up ahead of this one, including a range trailer...
