Importing a Vectra B Ecotec Diesel power train

Anyone running a Vectra B Ecotec Diesel? I own a Saturn L wagon and would love a Diesel swap. They were factory made and sold around the world but not here in the states. Looks like they get about 40 mpg as normal mileage. That would be a great start to aero one up. The car has a 200 hp 3.0 v-6 right now, wow who would need this much power in a mid sized car?

There is a metro on here with a U.S. sourced Kubota diesel that gets around 100mpg.
All I know about this Vectra diesel is it sounds exceedingly hard to get.

There shoyld be enough lying around the scrapyards in europe. But here in the netherlands they ask cracy prices. I once needed a foed zetec 1.8 head. They wanted 200 for it. And it was not checked. It came straight from the block. But from what i read and saw britain has good prices and they have the vectra not as opel but as vauxhal.

Getting replacement parts for it in America would also be not so easy. Get an Isuzu 4LE2 or an Yanmar TNV88 out of some old Thermo King reefer and call it a day.

Have you ever imported an engine from Europe before?

Just a remind: the smallest turbodiesel available for the Vectra B, the Isuzu 4EE2, was available in North America rebadged as a Mercruiser.

Now I get it. You live somewhere with emissions testing.

No emissions testing in my county yet, just the large metropolitan counties up north and near Medford. I will probably just wait for a 4/5 L series to come through the auction then decide what to do.
