inaccurate scangauge

I bought my scangauge a few weeks ago and it's pretty cool. But I noticed that on some trips it would list my max speed as over 100 mph, when I hadn't even got on the highway. So I set mph as one of the gauges, and kept sort of an eye on it. It matches the speedometer pretty closely most of the time, but will periodically jump up to some crazy high speed. It seems completely random. Also, on on trip today it read 0mph (and 0mpg) the entire time.

The car is a 2001 hyundai accent. Does anybody have an idea of what could be up?

First question- is it a problem with the Scangauge or with the Hyundai?
How about you set it up in another car for a while and see if it has the same errors? That way you can blame it on the gauge and request it be corrected.

Sounds like a good approach to me, brucepick, particularly if it's a symptom that occurs frequently in the Accent.

Yeah, thanks Bruce. That's so obvious, it never even occurred to me. I'll give it a shot.
