Indy car aero - race upside down ?
 

Here is another video I found interesting from the A2 wind tunnel which confirms the 'myth' of an Indy car having enough downforce to race upside down.
It's not really related to fuel economy, so i posted it here. I thought you all might enjoy it though .

Wonder at what speed the down (up) force become enough to stick the model to the foof?

It really is amazing how much of an impact the air has on vehicles.

They certainly could not start the race upside down! :)

Well enough lift can carry 300 tons of metal in the air, it's logical that enough down force can keep an object on the floor upside down. Exact opposite of an airplane hue.

Races would be much more exiting if the courses had upside down sections.

and jumps! :)

Well, intentional and properly-designed ones, not accidental ones into the crowds... Let's definitely avoid those!

Indy cars hit 4 Gs in the turns which takes a heck of a lot of downforce. Not sure at what speed they could actually be inverted and still maintain enough traction for sustained velocity, probably somewhere near 75% of max speed.
