Interchangable Oil Filters for Echo (or any car)

An echo oil filter is the retarded cousin of other oil filters.
(its small and puny)

So I googled for a good hour and someone said you can
use a Celica GT-S filter which is taller and has more filter.

Does anyone know of other filters that would work on an Echo?

And while youre at it, list other interchangable oil filters.

I'm sure auto part stores have filter catologs, but I know for sure that amsoil salesmen have them and can tell you what longer filter will fit.

I'm sure the stocker is more than adequate unless perhaps the car operates under the "severe service" schedule

1. everythings closed and i cant get to a parts book
2. if everyone abided by "the stocker is adequate" then the aerocivic might not have been made

that being said, if anyone has anything helpful to post,
it would be appreciated on this fine Christmas Eve
:)

Wonder what aerocivic's fe would be w/o coroplast?

How big is Echo engine?

Gold Wing = 1100 cc, has a filter smaller than a teacup, engines live for hundreds of thousands of miles. Echos have a problem with premature engine failure???

why do we put a lighter weight oil when the big companies that spend millions on oil research recommend 10w-30?

why do we put a 160 series tire (or a 300 series if youre on the Hummer board) when the same companies recommend 175 series?

same goes for lightweight non-stock rims

why do we switch "cool" camshafts when the same companies recommend stockers?

why has there been at least 3 threads dedicated to aftermarket K&N air filters

this is not a debate
the question was: Does anyone know of other filters that would work on an Echo?

turn up the heater or stoke the fire, you gotta warm up a little

OK new approach: what evidence do you have that the current filter is insufficient? What evidence do you have that a Mongo filter will improve things?

Put whatever you want on there, it's no skin off my ..., but just the same I find it curious.

alohaspirit 12-25-2009 02:12 AM

no evidence, just common spec

Using Larger Oil Filter? [ Archive] - GasSavers.org - Helping You Save at the Pump Hypermiling and Fuel Efficiency Forum

One dude says what Baldwin number is twice as long for the Echo

still didn't see anything that really points in the direction of bigger = better

Daox 12-25-2009 09:07 AM

The echo engine shares the same filter even with larger engines that come in the Corolla. I'd have to agree with Frank that the stock filter is fine. Krousdb runs the same filter on his Prius too and has gone up to 25,000 miles on a cheapo Fram filter and done an oil analysis that shows everything is fine. I personally wouldn't bother with a larger filter.
