Interesting Gauge
Has anyone seen this?
Aeroforce Technology Inc | Products - Interceptor A lot of the supercharged guys on the Bonneville forum I go to use this gauge. I noticed it has an instant and average MPG function as well. It is a bit pricey but it seems to offer a more functions than the "ScanGauge" everyone is using. They have this "sample list" posted on their site. I have highlighted a few things of possible interst: RPM MPH Intake Air Temperature (post Intercooler) Ambient Air Temperature (pre Intercooler) Engine Coolant Temperature Exhaust Gas Temperature (PCM Calculated) Transmission Temp. (auto trans) Manifold Pressure (vacuum/boost) displayed in PSI Fuel Temperature Battery Voltage Battery Temp Injector Pulse Width in msec. Injector Duty Cycle (%) Air Flow Rate into engine Long Term Fuel Trim Short Term Fuel Trim O2 Sensor Voltage Barometric Pressure Ignition Advance Base Spark PCM Spark Adjust Fuel Status (open/closed loop) Wastegate Solenoid Duty Cycle (%) Knock Retard Knock Sensor Raw Voltage Throttle Position Percentage Throttle Position Sensor Raw Volts Calculated Net Horsepower Engine Load Transmission Slip Current Transmission Gear Torque Delivered to Transmission Torque Converter lockup status Brake pressure Brake Booster Travel Steering Angle Non-driven Wheel Speed Lateral G's Yaw Fuel economy (instantaneous and average) P-ratio - pressure ratio MAP/Barometer 2 user configurable analog inputs** ** 0-5v inputs can be configured to read the outputs from MAP sensors, Air/Fuel ratio kits, pressure or temperature sensors, etc. Raw voltage can be displayed or a conversion can be entered to read proper units. Users will find that ability to log RPM vs other parameters at high speed such as ignition advance, boost, or knock retard invaluable with regards to tuning. |
Looks like a more expensive SGII... less nerdy too. :D

Looks cool. Does not *appear* to be as generalized as the SG : http://ecomodder.com/forum/member-cf...ptor-guage.jpg It appears to be CAN-only. CarloSW2 |
It works on the brands listed in the USA too. Yeah I noticed the more limited model range than the SGII. I wonder if it is due to the specialized content it has. I wonder if they think the return on investment would not be worth it for impot models.

http://www.aeroforcetech.com/files/A...f_Feb_2008.pdf They have it broken down by manufacturer and CAN or non-CAN. I looked in their forums and online manuals as well and US is no issue. I am not to schooled in this stuff so I cant say what US OBDII is is isnt capable of but according to them its a go. Heck, I cant afford it anyway I just thought it might be of interest to someone since buying an SGII and one or two other quality gauges would put you right in the price range for one of there .

The thing about these is that there are "gauge packages" with external sensors, etc... which cost more. The main unit is nice, but there are "others" that go with it. That's where they're really going to get your money, the way I understand it, anyway.

Could be I know it does have add ons. I still like it but I will more than likely get the SGII or the Autometer Ecogauage due to its price point

EPA mandated use of CAN-OBD-II in 2008, before that each manufacturer used different methodologies, Pulse-Width vs. Pulse Amplituide, etc.
That's why it's only recently that 'universal' gauges have become available...which means legacy stuff isn't going to be supported by the new gauges. FWIW, I have an AutoMeter 9100 ecometer and find it less than satisfactory because basically only the MPG-average display is usable, the other three display modes are too jumpy and fluctuate too much to be usable. |
