an interesting point of view (wool tuft testing video)

for the title of this thread, I have been insiperd :D

so, I have testing the rear end (declidt) of my car using famous wool tufts.
After to have numbered (for to help the interpretation) the wool stufts, and photographed the details, I have fixed the camera in the seat passenger

and I have measured the position of extended wool stuft

two pics below, they evidence that the extended sool stuft is under the ipotetical line of roof-declidt.
You can see that the extended wool stuft is in turbolent area...the famous buble it describet in this topic : http://forum.ecomodder.com/showthread.php?t=1548

Looks pretty good. Hard to tell if #6 and #13 are not so great, or just an unlucky picture.

fabrio. 04-01-2008 04:07 PM

yesss, you have reason....It is necessary a second camera :(
Not only: after the test, looking the videos, I have noticed that too much zoom: little repaid error whit good resolution :)

do you have idea for to insert the videos in this forum?

Daox 04-01-2008 04:17 PM

Youtube works best from what I've seen.

fabrio. 04-01-2008 04:25 PM

naaaa....

I have just uploaded the videos, but it is a code problem with this forum...
look, the end of my fist post. isnt' processed!

trebuchet03 04-01-2008 04:51 PM

Nice work :) I like the raised tuft method - I'll have to do that next time I do tufting :)

fabrio. 04-01-2008 05:35 PM

thankyoi a lot.

http://img532.imageshack.us/flvplayer.swf?f=Trunio3

http://img532.imageshack.us/flvplaye...f=Tfinestrado7

in the firs video, the car go to 140Km/hm and in the second video, I have.....surprise :)

fabrio. 04-01-2008 06:36 PM

ok, thk to SVOboy, now the videos ares embedded on first post :)

Very interesting.

I think this is the highest speed for tuft testing that I've seen.

The article(s) on this subject at autospeed.com were conducted at much lower speeds... 70-80 km/h.

trebuchet03 04-01-2008 09:49 PM

Just watched the videos... awesome :)

If you do this again, try only cracking the windows too... I found similar distrubrances with my windows barely open compared to fully opened...

fabrio. 04-02-2008 04:16 AM

I had time little to convert the videos from .mov to .avi, and I have more time videos stored in my PC
Speed test go from 80Km/h to 180K/h, for the higest speeds, I do not put video on imageshack, I can only send via email (obvious, for legal actions.)
Good solution is to have a second car with an other camera car and wool stufts in all surface of my car (like autospeed?s test)....in future maybe.

trebuchet, yes, the turbolence from side windows, are limited compared with other vehicles.

that I wish, are comments on turns out to you

ciao
