Its time to buy a new car for me! ---> Under $10k HELP!

How great!

I need something under $10k, preferably not too old, and not too many miles. (Used of course).

Right now I am SERIOUSLY looking into a Yaris. Any other recommendations?

Seville STS FTW!

...make that a Yaris with:

1) manual transmission
2) no a/c
3) small diameter tires
4) minimal sound proofing (less weight)

Well I do want it manual but I need the ac (Texas)

I want to get some skinnier tires though for even lower air resistance and put a kammback on it.

...I've been to Lewisville and DFW area...we (AZ) got the heat, but you (TX) have the humidity...so, I understand about the a/c.

As a proud owner of a 2007 Yaris, I highly recommend it. :)

There is an 05 Echo/Yaris hatch listed with 36 k miles in your area for $4500.

Craigslist.

First Gen Insight is my answer to everything on EcoModder.

But seriously, you can get a heck of an economy car in that price range. Insist on a stick. Don't be afraid to modify it. Since needs and wants vary a great deal, I don't know whether to recommend a hatchback, a hybrid, something that handles well, etc. Get what you like.

we just picked up a used 2005 Prius for not much over $10,000. I don't know if you can get a low mileage Prius for under $10,000 without getting super lucky, but you might be able to find one on eBay or something. I guess it all depends on what you qualify as "low mileage" and "newer"... I drive a 1994 Suzuki Swift with 170,000 miles, so almost everything looks "newer" and "low mileage".

Late 90's BMW 318's are about 5K and get low to mid 30's as long as you stay E36 body style they are pretty simple cars. Lots of support on the net too.

I have a 2 door Hatch (318ti) it gets 30 at 70 all day long... :)
