Jaguar C-X75 variations.
The C-X75 has re spiked my interest in gas turbines.
Got me thinking about alternatives based on this system. Gas turbines look good for their ability to run on almost any fuel. But are they that fuel efficient? Some sources say yes, some say no. Would a more practicable hybrid be a diesel-electric system? It works well in a freight train. Running a diesel (or other IC engine) at a constant speed should improve it's fuel usage significantly? Throw in some regenerative braking? Great torque characteristics of electric motor should make it fun to drive. |
Turbines are easily more efficient due to lower internal mechanical losses
