Jeep Wrangler aerodynamics

I found a picture that I think some of you may appreciate:

Wrangler
Stellantis/ FCA/ Daimler Chrysler/ Chrysler/ American Motors Corp............
all probably recognized that JEEP buyers have an expectation about what a CJ / Wrangler ought to 'look like.' Which narrows opportunities for any meaningful drag reduction. Slow incremental change has brought the Cd down from 0.70, to the mid- .5s since the 1970's energy crisis. There's only so much lipstick we can put on a pig. |
Yes, and I would guess that the new Jeep wranglers have actually gotten worse because they are so much larger now, but with many of the same features.
They are pigs for sure, but if they were shaped like pigs they would have better aerodynamics, as evidenced above. |
larger
Yes! The frontal area arms race!
As soon as you get any engine efficiency improvement, enlarge and add weight to the vehicle. Stellantis doesn't pay for the fuel. |

Reed Timmer has video of flying cows, caught up in tornados. Knowing the Fujitsu scale rating of the particular tornado would allow for Cd estimations, given body orientation-weighted weights and measures of the particular cows involved.

Could you not work backwards starting with how much drag would be required to lift said cow and pick an arbitrary wind speed? Said cow should not fall out of the sky as it rotates its frontal location, or would it?
There, you've done it, my mind is sussing out all versions of cow rotation in flight including leg retraction while inverted. I hope you're happy. |
The tornado has a vertical component. They're being sucked up.

Tornadoes! *facepalm* that explains the strange shape of Bison:
https://ecomodder.com/forum/attachme...1&d=1620503403 They need to be more aerodynamic to not fly away. |
A cow is actually more aerodynamic if ridden backwards... the cow not the rider.
