Kansas and Missouri

Roll call!

How many do we have in the Kansas/Missouri area?

SVOboy 07-31-2008 06:33 PM

Me, in chillicothe, for a few more days.

Noel 07-31-2008 10:00 PM

40 miles west of STL

DoctorP82 08-01-2008 12:10 AM

Columbia, Missouri here. The I-70 midpoint.

arnphawk 08-01-2008 12:15 AM

I'm here, in johnson county (shawnee)

gascort 08-01-2008 03:13 PM

I'm in STL, originally from Lee's Summit, MO (KC area).

AndrewJ 08-01-2008 04:06 PM

Columbia, MO here.

Doc, you have a PM....

Oh, and don't forget Rick. He's around KC somewhere.

I'll be checking back soon. I'm on 28k dail-up now. Not condusive to getting on EM with any great regularity.

SVOboy 08-02-2008 11:57 AM

Oh darn, I just got back from Columbia, :p

BrianAbington 08-08-2008 09:45 AM

I'm up in omaha...so if theres ever a get together in the KC area I could make it.

jesse.rizzo 08-08-2008 03:00 PM

I'm in Kansas City, MO for the summer. School year is spent in Warrensburg, MO which is still only an hour away from KC.

KJSatz 08-08-2008 10:38 PM

Kirksville. Small town north of Columbia.

RH77 08-08-2008 10:47 PM

Hey all --

Lee's Summit here (essentially SE-KC). I end up in STL and Omaha often in my travels.

-Rick

Stephankol 08-30-2008 08:26 PM

From Grant City originally, right now in Warrensburg, MO with rizzo.

Supa 08-31-2008 05:07 AM

I'm here in Columbia going to school at MU right now. Go Tigers, baby.

AndrewJ 09-03-2008 11:49 AM

Yall should keep your eye on "Missouri Life" magazine this month...

You might see a familiar face or two.

Will 09-03-2008 11:52 AM

West Tennessee... Not TOO far from MO if something were to be planned.

AndrewJ 09-03-2008 11:54 AM

I was just going to ask...

Anybody interested in caravaning up to the CincyMPG fest in October?

It's not a sure-thing with me yet, but I'm definitely interested in going.

lovemysan 09-03-2008 02:16 PM

Sounds fun, but I don't think my finances will support it. I'd love to compete though. The Lacey rally was won by a saturn at 61.*mpg. My best tank was 62+mpg. And there's plenty more in the car. I could run no P/S or a/c. I could run a deep cycle battery and electric water pump.....

Yuri4x4 09-24-2008 01:20 PM

I'm in Belleville, IL... across the river from St Louis.

Andrew, you have to go - your car will be a huge hit there!

I'd like to go, but we're pretty busy this time of year with my work schedule (teaching) and we have a two month old. In the summertime, I'd definitely go...
BTW, I'll have to swing by CoMo sometime on my way through and see your ride in person. I've got a couple of friends still in town and told them to look out for your car!
Matt

I live in Harrison, AR ... just 1.5 hour south of Springfield, Mo

Could we arrange something ( dinner ) in late November in Springfield?

Intrigued 11-22-2008 08:16 PM

Count Me In!!!

I'm an hour south and east of Springfield, MO. You'll find me on our Frappr page. PM me and I'll send my email addy if that link don't work - I check email multiple times a day. If I know ahead of time, and it was during a summer or winter break I could easily go to a meeting in Spfld or KC or Columbia... have family in all of those areas. It would be so neat to get to meet some of the other modders...

SolarStuff2 12-13-2008 12:55 AM

Kcmo

Kansas City, MO... Plaza area

festivaWES 01-01-2009 09:37 PM

Southwest Joplin, MO here....I'm done for a meet sometime.

roverjohn 01-12-2009 11:09 AM

KCMO here. NEKC homie.

Intrigued 01-12-2009 01:00 PM

It's good to see our numbers growing! We should try to set up a meeting this summer in the area, and try to find a spot that is in the middle of our group.

Maybe south outskirts of KC? Do any of you modders in that area know of a good place to meet?

I'm going to only have classes one night a week this summer, so I am going to be fairly available.

Intrigued 01-12-2009 02:31 PM

Making it easier...

I’m getting the hard part done here. We can send messages from my attachment, I think... I'll add to it as needed. Contact the others in the area!!!
Everybody put your info into our frappr map and let’s see how our distribution is weighted! Then we can decide what might be the best area to set up a meeting!
If we get started now, we might be able to arrange something for the summer!
Dan

See if you can do the links from the download... First is a docx, second is doc

Whew! I've been way to busy with these Senior-level classes. I'm supposed to be working on a 15-page Research Paper, but I took a break to keep from going even more crazy than I already am...

Anyway, here's the new list, with Fast38 added. We have enough of us to make a decent group. Anybody up for a meeting some time this summer? My last class of the semester is May 16, and the Summer semester starts June 10. That's about 3 weeks of freedom, in which I could easily help with a meeting.

...oh, as a teaser... I'll bring the (REAL) bumper stickers!!! :D

Wow, great to see all of these people from the Mid-West :). I'm in Columbia Missouri here, I've actually seen Andrew J. cruising around town in his modded civic. If any of you Columbians want to meet up let me know! Hell, I work at a little Sandwich shop that some of you college kids might have been to. Anyone heard of the Lee Street Deli? 5'5 Long blonde-haired high school boy, that's me.
Anywho, very excited to find this thread.

Is he still around??? I've PM'd him a couple of times, but lately have not gotten a reply.

If you see him, get a couple of buddies and run him down, then drag him to a library somewhere, or supply him with a laptop and wireless access for the afternoon, so the rest of us can see what's going on with his Civic!!! ;)

I got you on the list! I'm a former ASE Master Automotive Craftsman myself... if that has anything to do with "older tech"...

:-)

Oldertech

Hi,

"Oldertech" is the domain I set up years ago at oldertech.com. It is to reflect my interest in older technology that in some ways is superior or at least more interesting than current technology. It's a respect for innovation that often doesn't get respect. It's supporting an "underdog." I've done that all my life in different areas. The Honda Civic VX technology fits in exactly. As does Hypermiling.

Wish I were a trained mechanic. I'd have far fewer "goofs."

Scott

Don't bet on it! :D I was a Master Tech long enough to get my Recert. Gold Plaque. Maybe less of a percentage of repairs had goofs, but it was still difficult to go through a day without some kind of Major Pain. I did everything electrical except Driveability, and electrons have funny ways of doing things sometimes...

Hypermiling to me is almost past being a game when I'm on the road. The better I'm doing on a tank of gas, the more motivated I am to make it better. I'll even take a longer route to get from A to B if I know I can get better mileage out of it, LOL! Nothing wasteful, though... ;)

Hey all you folks in Misery (and Kansas too :p) I'll be checking in every once-in-awhile to see what sort of plans come together. I have family in St. Louis, so I'm up there every couple of years or so. Might be heading that way around the end of June, I'll know better in a couple of weeks. I could at least pretend to be a local; I was born in St. Louis, is that good enough? :D

HA! What's this "pretending" to be local??? If you know the REAL spelling :p of the Show-Me state's name, then you count!

I wish folks in KC and STL would get the ball rolling for their particular area. Maybe join forces with an energy expo of some kind, and have a group meet at the expo. Anything to keep the grassroots growing. Columbia has something related, as I remember. As for Springfield, I can't find a blessed thing except 4X4 and Hot Rod and Antique whatever meets. I'll check farther, to see if I'm missing something...

I'm thinking of contacting a few folks in the area who do solar/biodiesel/electrics to see if we can pull something together if there isn't already something. The Missouri AEAA group has a couple of members in this area, but KC is a pretty long trip to make. Maybe have a splinter group here...
