Milwaukee Hybrid Group Ecomods Insight II!

NOW THAT I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION,....ok, so we didn't really ecomod a Honda Insight II at today's Milwaukee Hybrid Group Meeting.

It was however, the first time I got to see one up close and personal.

General thoughts!

Looks like a Prius.
Smaller back seat than a Prius.
Smaller cargo than a Prius.
Smaller price than a Prius.

Nice-looking interior. Finally! An Eco-green button!

The front looks like a FIT.

Fairly smooth underbody. Not as nice as a Tesla, but most everything is covered. Looks like it's designed as a multi-part belly pan.

Looks like a Prius.

Of course our local Ecomodders already had a few ideas for how to improve the car.

Hmmm. We should have had one more guy there to hold up a rear wheel-skirt mock-up!

For more photos of the car at the event, click on this link: MobileMe Gallery

Sorry, I don't buy new vehicles. But if I did, something like this would definately be under consideration.

Still more fun to build them!

That's hilarious. Love the wheel cover pic.

Send it to Honda!

Hi,

So, does it look a lot like the Prius?

What are the wheel covers made of? They look truly flat. Are steel wheels available?

What is the Cd of this car -- I have read it is 0.28? What does the grill look like -- is most of the upper one already blocked?

Up close, I don't think it looks too much like a Prius to be honest. You can tell it is smaller. Basically a Fit/Prius combination. The grill seems to be like what they are going with on a lot of newer cars. Big flat bars across the front with smaller slits between them instead of a huge open area. No doubt the top grill could likely be totally blocked off though. The bottom grill is plenty large.

Those are the wheel covers off Ben's S-10. He pulled them off for the picture.

It's just the overall "whaleback" shape that makes it look like a Prius, because that's a very distinct look, and the Prius and Insight II are the only cars with that shape.

The thread on my wheel covers is here.

Both my S10 and the Insight have 15" tires. Too bad the rims were diffferent, or I would have actually popped them on!
