Larger tires with ScanGauge

Hello,

Is there a way to adjust the settings for a larger tire diameter?

Welcome to EM! In the setup section you can set the speed +-%.

Here is one tire size calculator you can use to figure out the % difference from OEM :

Yes - it's in the "MORE" menu. The offset for your speedometer/odometer is under the "SPEED" option.

I have mine adjusted because I'm not running the OEM spec tire size for the transmission in my car (though I swapped transmissions, not tires).

With your larger tires, your speedo/odo will be reading low, so you'll have to use a positive offset in the ScanGauge to compensate.

Excellent!! Thanks for the info.

According to the calculator my new tires will be +3.9% :)

You're welcome.

I think the SPEED offset limits you to integers, but luckily 3.9 is pretty close to 4. :)

Good info here. Now I gotta go try mine and compare it to a radar speed limit sign. Which isn't exactly a perfect science, I get it, but it's pretty close!

Edit: I went out and set mine to 7% and that fixed my Scangauge almost perfectly. I already knew I was off by about 2 MPH because I used several certified radar devices to check it. I had already known about the Speed adjustment but didn't know whether to go up or down and just feel like experimenting. I should've experimented though because it was a snap. :D

I'm talking about how I changed the Scangauge in my truck, not my Civic and the tire change was from 205/70/16 to 255/55/18, wherein I measured that I gained about two and quarter inches.

Here is another tire size calculator that will allow you to compare up to 4 sizes to the original. You can also enter in the make, year, and model to find out the original size.
