Unveiled at CES 2019, the 2019 Nissan Leaf e+ not only offers more range, but also more power. The new model has 226 miles of range, courtesy of a 62-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack (up from 40 kWh in the base Leaf). It also produces 214 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, compared to the 147 hp and 236 lb.-ft. of the base model. Drive is still to the front wheels, and no other major changes were made to the car.
So - not only a larger range, but also faster.

But did they finally liquid-cool their battery so it has decent longevity?

Nope.

But at least a bigger pack means lower draw/charge per cell, so less heat buildup, and more cells probably means a bigger total cooling surface. It alleviates the problem somewhat.
Plus direct current charging:

Yet, not all is new for the Nissan Leaf 2019, i.e. the change is not so much in the appearance. It is the inner life that counts so to speak and that has been confirmed in said battery pack with a usable capacity of 60 kilowatt hours. As a kind of useful “waste product”, a higher direct current charging capacity has been added as well. Thus Nissan doubles charging capacity to a new 100 kW with the Leaf E-Plus.

Supposedly, Nissan is trying to tackle the issue, at least a little. As with the electric transporter e-NV200, an additional fan is to give the battery a breath of fresh air during the DC charging process. It remains to be seen whether this will be sufficient to actually experience the 100 kW charging power specified in theory so far. The Japanese will continue to use the CHAdeMO fast-charging standard.

It has air conditioned cooling; but not liquid cooling.

Yeah, I'm annoyed that there isn't accurate/consistent reporting going on regarding this. Some sources make it sound like they added a fan that blows cabin air across the battery, and others say it uses air conditioned cooling, which is a lot different than ambient air cooling.

If it can air condition to cool, then I expect much better longevity out of the battery, and no more chargegate.

The sad part is a couple water jacket fins through the middle of the battery running past ac would likely eliminate 90% of the issues but they won’t even do that

It's like crash fires in pinto's. Not enough problem to worry about profit.

Nissan has lost their mojo - or at least much of it. They have addressed the "charge-gate" with their 40kWh Leaf, with a software change.

They need to change *one simple thing* to make the Leaf possible for me (and other taller drivers) - the center console flares out - and the edge hits me just below my right knee. It is a deal-breaker - and it is an easy thing to fix.

If they do that, then I'd be able to own one. Also, they raised the rear seat, which is good; as the original seat is way too low for most adults. But it now puts my head into the roof liner - so a steeper angle on the seat would be better.

Nissan REALLY needs to come out with more electric vehicles - they have sat on their advantage of producing the first widely available, relatively affordable EV. They waited a few years too long to refresh the Leaf. If not for the bulging headlights, they would have sold many more.
